It’s another Friday thus time for a new list of retro gadgets , games , tools , sites etc… This time we will take a look at the mobile phones that have made communications so much easier.. So from Old to new generations the top 4 mobile devices and the technologies they brought with them.
1.The really old ones
In the late 50′s some smart Swedes came up with the car phone which although not really mobile due to the size it was able to make calls and so prince Philip got it build in to his Aston Martin to chat to his mom while driving around..
The sizes changed a bit but most of these models were still very large and therefore not very mobile..
2. The 1G phones
The first generation phones where those which could use the 1st generation wireless technologies first launched in Japan around the 1980 this technology allowed wireless communications to work a lot smoother due to its ability to move “cell sites”. With the older mobile phones you couldn’t really move away from where you initiated the call because it would drop the call. As the technologist got better so did the phones and we were getting a real hand held device..

3. The 2G Phones
In the Early 1990 the second generation of the wireless communication technologies was that of going digital using the GSM Standard. With this new techonolgy came some great features like SMS , Longer reach and digital encryption. Most of you would have had a 2g device because they were the first phones that would come with a Pre-paid option as well

4.The 3G Phones
10 years after the launch of the 2nd generation networks a japanese company launched its 3rd generation network. The benefits of the 3rd generation was mostly its network speed and today’s 3g networks can allow 14mbit/s downloads and almost 6 mbit/s uploads. These would enable mobile phones to do a lot more things then just browsing and it allowed for Surfing the web and watching streaming videos from the web.

So that was the list for now and maybe you have noticed that every 10 years we go up a generation of mobile technologies.. so 2010 should be the year of 4G enabled phones !
